Frequently asked questions
How does WhatsApp Business pricing work since 1 October 2026?
Meta charges per delivered message from your business to a customer, not per 24-hour conversation. The price depends on the message category (marketing, utility, authentication or service) and on the country code of the recipient's phone number. Messages customers send to you are always free. Since 1 October 2026 service messages are charged again after a free monthly allowance of 1,000 per business phone number, and utility messages inside the customer service window are charged as well.
Which messages are still free?
Three things are free: every message a customer sends you, the first 1,000 service messages per business phone number each month, and every marketing, utility, authentication and service message you send inside a free entry point window — which opens when you reply to someone who messaged you from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad, and stays open for up to 7 days.
What is the difference between marketing, utility, authentication and service messages?
Marketing templates promote something — offers, newsletters, abandoned-cart reminders. Utility templates follow up on something the customer did, like an order confirmation, shipping update or appointment reminder. Authentication templates carry one-time passcodes. Service messages are free-form replies your team (or your own AI) sends within 24 hours of the customer's last message. Marketing is the most expensive category in almost every country.
What are volume tiers?
For utility and authentication messages Meta lowers the rate once your monthly volume to a market passes certain thresholds — up to 25% below the list rate. Only the messages above each threshold get the lower rate, and the count resets every month. The calculator applies the tiers automatically and shows which ones you reach.
What does Meta Business Agent cost?
Meta Business Agent is Meta's own AI agent for answering customers. It's priced per token at $2.00 per million tokens, which Meta puts at roughly 4–5 US cents per message for a typical 20,000–25,000-token reply. Those messages are never free, not even in a free entry point window. The calculator converts the USD price into your currency.
Are these the prices I will actually pay?
They are Meta's published list rates, so they're what Meta charges for delivery. They don't include VAT or the fee of your WhatsApp provider, and your actual bill depends on how many messages are delivered, the exact countries you send to and any volume tiers your whole business portfolio reaches. Treat the result as a reliable estimate, not an invoice.
Can I show the calculator in Dutch or Spanish?
Yes. Add lang=nl or lang=es to the address (lang=en is the default), for example when you embed the calculator on your own site.
Do you store what I enter?
We keep an anonymous record of completed calculations — market, currency and message volumes — to see how the calculator is used. It contains nothing that identifies you, and we never ask for your name or email.
