What is a WhatsApp click-to-chat link?
It's a link in the form https://wa.me/31612345678 that opens a WhatsApp chat with that number, on mobile or WhatsApp Web, without the visitor having to save the number as a contact first.
Why does my number need a country code?
WhatsApp identifies every account by its full international number. A link without a country code is ambiguous and simply won't open the right chat, so this tool asks for one — either typed as +31 or picked from the country list.
Do I have to remove the leading zero?
No, the tool does it for you. National numbers often start with a trunk zero, like 06 in the Netherlands. In international format that zero is replaced by the country code, so 06 12345678 becomes 31612345678 in the link.
Can I add a pre-filled message?
Yes. Anything you type in the message field is added to the link and appears in the visitor's WhatsApp input box, ready to send. They can still edit it before sending — a pre-filled message is a starting point, not a locked one.
